The birth of Kitchen Sessions

In February I was lucky to attend an extremely entertaining and intimate performance by The David Wax Museum at Club Passim in Harvard Square:

I spoke with some of the members of the band after the show -- they were gracious, down to earth, friendly and welcoming. This, combined with a particular line I couldn't get out of my head ("invite me into your kitchen, invite me into your kitchen"), inspired me to, well, invite them to come play in my kitchen.

Thanks to the enthusiasm of the band and the support of my friends, we all had an incredible time. Unfortunately, we had too many attendees for the band to actually play in the kitchen, but the name stuck. One of their new songs, 'Unfruitful', played in our living room:

This first Kitchen Sessions show was special to say the least, and having been spoiled by such an amazing performance in my own home, I knew this wouldn't be the only one. We now have four more acts lined (Brown Bird, Vikesh Kapoor, John Shade, Elsa Cross) up for this spring with more surely to follow.
